PREGNANCY SUPPORT: HELPING YOU THROUGH PREGNANCY

Just like in the pre-conception phase of your fertility journey, pregnancy should be fun. Pregnancy should feel good, and you, momma, should feel pregnant, but not miserable, uncomfortable (within reason) and ill. My mission is to help you feel your best throughout this miraculous time of your life. Diet and lifestyle play a major role in how well our pregnancies play out – I’m here to help guide you, to help you feel your best.

BENEFITS OF PREGNANCY SUPPORT

When mom is nourished in the physical and emotional sense during (and prior to) pregnancy, it helps make for a much easier and enjoyable pregnancy. In addition to helping mom feel good, it also helps with the growth and development of your baby. There are obviously going to be some discomforts as your baby and belly grow, but I’m here to help you find ease in the day-to-day by guiding you with what nourishing foods to eat to support your health in addition to sending you in the right direction to finding more balance in your lifestyle to support your growing needs. When mom and baby are being cared for and are feeling their best, it makes my heart sing.

MANAGING COMMON PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS

Common pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness, food aversions, swelling, intense cravings, high blood pressure and high blood sugar are often associated to the foods we eat and the lifestyle we lead. There are a large number of things we can do on a day-to-day basis that can help us manage common pregnancy symptoms. Sometimes, the simplest of changes can make the biggest difference! Sometimes, we need a little more of an in-depth approach. In any case, I am here to help you find peace, comfort and to help you feel good in pregnancy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it too late to start working with a nutritionist if I am already pregnant?

Absolutely not! It’s never too late to start working with a fertility nutritionist even if you are currently pregnant. In fact, if you’re pregnant and you’re experiencing any discomfort or unwanted symptoms, there are many steps that can be taken using diet and lifestyle to help you feel better. Let’s start with a free discovery call and see what’s going on, so we can help get you feeling better throughout pregnancy!

I have morning sickness, can a nutritionist help me?

Morning sickness is no fun, but it’s usually a sign that the body is having hard time with it’s metabolism. From my experience, there are steps that can be taken with diet and lifestyle that can help to mitigate those unwanted symptoms while you continue to nourish yourself and baby – to ensure a healthy pregnancy and development of your baby.

I have gestational diabetes, can a nutritionist help me?

A nutritionist can help with gestational diabetes by helping you make food and lifestyle choices that are going to better support your blood sugar levels during the day. Gestational diabetes doesn’t just come out of nowhere, it stems from the choices that we currently make, as well as the ones we made before getting pregnant. So let’s talk – let’s figure out which areas in your life need attention to bring better balance to your blood sugar levels!

I have pre-eclampsia, can a nutritionist help me?

While it can be normal for blood pressure levels to change in pregnancy, we want to keep on eye on elevated blood pressure in pregnancy (pre-eclampsia). Our blood volume and flow changes with pregnancy and with that, there are certain dietary and lifestyle changes that may be considered to help manage them.

I have Hyperemesis Gravidarum, can you still help me?

This extreme form of “morning sickness” often comes from a history of “lacking”, which continues on in an exasperated way once pregnancy hits. While I cannot make any promises about mitigating all the symptoms of HG, I can promise to help you find ways to get nourishment into your system to help support yourself and your pregnancy.

Will you share a supplement protocol with me for pregnancy support?

Yes! I typically recommend herbal medicines and homeopathy to help combat some of those unwanted pregnancy symptoms (or simply to better support your healthy pregnancy!). Each protocol will vary from woman to woman and will be based on your current needs. While not necessary, it can be very beneficial.

What’s your number one recommendation to help with unwanted pregnancy symptoms?

My number one recommendation to help with pregnancy symptoms is simple: stop, slow down and pay attention. Your body is always talking to you in the form of symptoms. Keep a log of what you’re eating, what your mood is like and what symptoms are presenting and see if you can find what is causing that symptom. Are you finding a trigger? Is it silently popping up? What is your body (and baby) telling you?

I’ll share one more thing, following the same principal as before: stop, slow, relax and enjoy. As best you can. Being pregnant doesn’t last for ever, try to savour the deliciousness that pregnancy is. Enjoy the small moment, enjoy the sensations that come along with feeling your growing baby. This is an incredible time to start bonding with your baby and yourself. Enjoy.
