Meal planning support to help manage nutritional intake

Are you eating too much, or too little? How much we eat and whether it’s enough for our bodies needs, is a topic that we will often discuss. Meal planning can help ensure that we are eating enough of the right foods to fuel our body adequately and help us feel our best.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN YOUR MEAL PLANNING SUPPORT?

When helping to plan our your meals, I will share with you my favourite collection of recipes in addition to a breakdown of how to best prepare your plate. In addition to that, I will share with you approximate quantities of foods from each food group that you should be consuming based on your activity level, weight and goals.

WHAT KIND OF RECIPES ARE SHARED?

The recipe book that I will share with you is a collection of anti-inflammatory, mostly gluten-free and dairy-free recipes. Some recipes include some dairy, which can be excluded, and some recipes don’t include dairy where it could be added in. Same thing goes for gluten and other grain products. Over the many years of eating gluten-free and dairy-free, myself, I’ve put together this book of how I eat, using recipes that I often share with my clients. There’s a little bit of everything, for everyone – from drinks, to appetizers, to main course meals, to deserts. Welcome to my kitchen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you send me a day-by-day meal plan?

The short answer is no, let me explain why. I’m not interested in telling you what to do, that’s your job. Where I come in as a holistic nutritionist is as an educator of food and lifestyle. I want to teach you the basic skills of planning your own nutritious meals so that you can follow a realistic plan that works for you, for life. I’m not interested in yo-yo dieting where you follow a strict plan that’s not manageable long term. I am more interested in helping you understand your bodies cues and needs so that you can nourish yourself in a way that is supportive and feels good, for you. That leads me to my next point.

Why won’t you send me exact quantities and weight of food to eat with each meal?

I won’t send you exactly food quantities to eat because every body is different, as is your activity level from day-to-day, as is your bodies requirements. I teach you to listen to your bodies cues and encourage you to make healthy choices based on what your body is needing at the time. I give you general guidelines so that you can learn to feed your body in a consistent and healthy way – for life. No yo-yo or strict caloric-deficit diets coming your way from me.

Do you review food journals?

Heck yes! It’s one of the first things we do when working together. I expect you to keep a log of your food and beverage intake for 3 normal days and I will make notes on how you can optimize your meals to better serve you. We may do this every couple of months to see how you’re doing with the changes and where we can make gentle alterations.

Will you help me track calories?

No. I don’t subscribe to that. When we start working together, I will look at your body weight and activity level and come up with a general guideline for you to aim for. I will also help you start to understand your hunger cues so that you can plan your meals in a way that’s best supportive for your body.

West Grey & Oakville. This is due to the equipment required to conduct the analysis
– including a sample of your live blood!

Does your meal planning support include any intense diets?

Not necessarily. This can’t be answered clearly without really getting to know you and your health goals. Sometimes, simple changes can be enough to help you get on the right path, other times, making some dietary changes that you might not have considered before may be needed to help propel you in the right direction. Not to worry, though, I will guide you every step of the way 🙂
