Hormone Testing (DUTCH)

WHAT is A dutch test?

A DUTCH test uses your dried urine to get a reading on your hormone metabolites, helping to create a picture into your stress, stress response and menstrual hormones. The test shows basic hormone ranges, melatonin, cortisol readings, and metabolites for estrogen, cortisol and androgens - all helping to point a picture into the state in which your hormones are behaving.

Live Blood Analysis How its Done

How does a dutch test help me?

By identifying which hormones are out of balance, we can create a tailored nutrition, lifestyle and supplementary plan to help bring you back into a state of homeostasis. Hormones are messengers that adapt to a terrain that is out of balance - knowing which hormones are too elevated or decreased can help us pinpoint where to get started with clearer direction.

HOW IS THE DUTCH TEST PERFORMED?

The DUTCH test is to be performed over the course of a standard day. Urine samples (and salivary – if doing additional testing), will be taken at key points throughout the day, ideally in and around day 21 (mid-luteal phase) of you cycle, the point in which your progesterone levels should be at their peak. How does a dutch test tie into fertility support?

Your hormones have a direct effect on your fertility, pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Knowing where your levels are at can help streamline your treatment plan and help you get on a clear path sooner in your fertility journey.

Getting ready for a DUTCH test

This test should be performed on a day that you would consider to be an average, standard day. You should have access to a clean facility and that’s just about it!

Prior to you actually taking the test in your home, there are a few steps that need to be taken to have the text mailed to you. All these steps could be discussed over a quick phone call!

CAN A DUTCH TEST SUPPORT FERTILITY?

Whether you’re thinking of trying to conceive or you have been trying for a while, a DUTCH test can help give us insight into the way your hormones are interacting with one another. The results from a DUTCH panel help us better understand the areas that need more attention so we can come up with a tailored plan for your bodies needs to best support your fertility. Hormones are the bodies messengers – messengers that say “All is well, carry on!” or “Help me!”. Do you know where your hormones stand?

What does a DUTCH test appointment look like?

A DUTCH test can be performed in one of two ways:

  1. We are already working together and you wish to dig deeper into your reproductive hormones and stress hormone look like so you choose to run this test through me.
  2. You are not an existing client and you are interested in running this test through me.

In any case, the DUTCH test would be sent directly to your home. You would complete the kit that is sent to you and you will have to return the kit to a specific laboratory for them to process. Regardless, your options are best discussed over a free discovery call!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a client to run a DUTCH test?

Yes, you need to be an active client to be able to run a DUTCH test with me.

I’m having a hard time TTC, should I take a DUTCH test?

While we can jump straight into doing a DUTCH test, I don’t always recommend that we start with it. After going over your history, I typically suggest making some dietary and lifestyle changes to better support your digestive process before taking a test because it can play a major role in your hormone status. This is up for discussion of course, I just like to be upfront and honest – we typically do a little work before doing the test. Small changes can make a huge impact on your hormone status.
