WHAT is FERTILITY AWARENESS METHOD?
Fertility Awareness Method refers to the art of reading your cycle throughout the month. It’s about taking the time to notice and track the symptoms of your body to identify where you are in your cycle.

HOW IS FAM TIED INTO APPOINTMENTS?
We will discuss your cycle at every appointment and you will be taught how to read your menstrual cycle through discussions and with the help of an educational package that I’ve put together for you that is simple and straight to the point.

Fertility Awareness Method gives you the opportunity to connect to your cycles in a way that allows you to work with your fluctuating hormones through the month. It can also help you plan for pregnancy, or prevent it - whichever you're looking for 😉
HOW DOES FERTILITY AWARENESS METHOD WORK?
First step in learning about fertility awareness method is to take the time to learn more about your menstrual cycle and all of it’s phases. The next step is to start tracking key symptoms that present throughout the month. Symptoms are the body’s way of communicating with us, and with each symptom, we get a clue into the health and vitality of your body, or we are given clues into which areas may need attention.
CAN THE FERTILITY AWARENESS METHOD HELP ME GET PREGNANT?
Fertility awareness method can help you get pregnant by helping you time intercourse when you’re ovulating. Fertility awareness method can help prevent pregnancy as well, in that, knowing when you’re about to ovulate may help you take extra precautions to avoid fertilization. If you’re experiencing menstrual irregularities prior to getting pregnant, this method can help identify the areas that are in need of support.

When wanting to learn about your menstrual cycle, the best thing you can do for yourself right now is to start keeping a log of your experience throughout the month that are related to your menses.
Put pen to paper and track:
- The start of your menses;
- When your flow ends and any physical or emotional symptoms that you’ve experienced before, during or after;
- You’ll also want to track any symptoms that may present around half way through the month (or, about a week or so after the end of your flow.
With the information that you collect, we can get a pretty clear idea of what’s going on – or not, during your cycle.

Fertility Awareness Method helps best for women who are menstruating naturally, women who are trying to conceive, who are trying to prevent pregnancy and for the women who are simply trying to understand their bodies and work with it. If you are taking the birth control pill, you’re on a patch or you have an IUD, you will likely not be able to track ovulation because your birth control may be stopping that from taking place.
It’s as effective as you want it to be! Once you start to understand the ebbs and flows of your menstrual cycle, it can help understand when you’re approaching ovulation, your menstrual cycle, it will help you understand mood and food changes – it is effective at help you determine when you may be most fertile if you’re trying to conceive! It all comes down to how well you are able to get to know the signs and symptoms of your individual body.
Apart from helping you conceive or prevent pregnancy through proper timing, learning about FAM is great because it teaches us to connect more and work with our bodies. When we better understand where we are in our cycle, we learn to work and move with it as well, it teaches us to honour our feminine flow as opposed to ignoring the gentle cues that come with our cycles.
